after all how long ?
I really like the line by Sammer Guglani near the end of this post
http://www.guglanisam.me/startup-jobs-are-not-for-the-weak-hearted
. It says “Working for a startup is not for everyone, it is not a regular job, it is a lifestyle choice.”. Quite true and quite succiently puts forward the difference between regular job and a startup job. Having substantial startup experience of my own, I directly correlate to his thoughts. It is a lifestyle choice, like choosing between “safe well paying job” or “challenging all day and all night” type of job, it is like choosing between “saying safe in comfort zone” or “choosing 90% risk of failure”, it is a choice between “doing what you are asked to do” or “doing what your heart wants you to do”
I especially like the ending of this
“Once you work for a startup & you enjoy it, you can never go back to work for a regular company. You will either work for another startup or you will start your own startup.”
Quite true and with all of the people I know who have worked for startup (whether successful ones or the ones that shutted down), I believe that most of them can no longer work for a regular corporate job, it is just that living in a startup domain takes away your ability to live in safe zone, like how long climbers or hikers or mountaineers can live on plain terrain, after all how long ?
